NEWCASTLE KZN: Teacher in court for raping a learner (11)
The young learner was reportedly raped in the school toilets.
A 53-year-old suspect will appear before the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court this morning (June 18) for a case of rape, according to information received from the Office of the Provincial Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal.
According to police, it is alleged that on June 9, 2021 an 11-year-old girl was at school in Madadeni when she was raped by one of the teachers in the school toilets.
She was allegedly threatened that she would be killed if she reported the matter to anyone.
“The victim informed her mother about what transpired and a case of rape was opened at the Madadeni SAPS. The docket was transferred to the Newcastle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for further investigation,” confirmed Captain Nqobile Gwala.
The suspect was arrested by the FCS Unit yesterday morning (June 17).
