NEWCASTLE KZN: Shelves empty as residents try to stock up on essentials
The biggest question residents are asking today is where to buy food and fuel.

Residents have been asking where to buy groceries and fuel today in order to stock up before further riots and looting.
Some supermarkets have been open for business, as well as smaller tuckshops, bakeries and other suppliers.
The situation is fluid and some stores are only open as long as stocks last.
“Some of the shelves are empty. I just stopped to check out the convenience store at a local garage. People have bought out all of the food items as well as things like soap, toothpaste, and other sanitary items,” said Estella Naicker.
Our reporter on the ground has indicated that queues are extremely long at the stores that are open for trade. Most filling stations are closed already.
If you are currently out trying to get supplies, please remember to social distance where possible and wear your mask. Stay safe Newcastle.
