DUNDEE KZN: Cold weather onslaught expected

Those wishing to see snow are unlikely to get their wish - the Weatherman expects no precipitation during this period.

After some mild days which prompted many to think this was the end of winter, the cold weather has returned with an icy fury.

Residents have woke up to to a frosty landscape most mornings and it is only going to get colder. The cold temperatures will be due to a succession of cold fronts that are expected to sweep across the southern half of the country.

The first cold front arrived over the south-western parts of the country on Monday afternoon, to be followed by another, more intense, cold front due on Wednesday.

The latter system will be supported by a well-defined upper-air trough, thus enhancing the overall intensity of the weather system.

Thursday will see the mercury plummet locally to minus 5, according to the SA Weather Service. A maximum of 14 is expected. Friday is not much better with a minimum of minus 4 and a maximum of 12.

Things warm up slightly over the weekend – but its going to be a chilly next few days.

Those wishing to see snow are unlikely to get their wish – the Weatherman expects no precipitation during this period. So keep warm and help keep warm someone who is feeling cold…
