VRYHEID KZN: 20 girls at each school receive pads for the whole year

The five departments of the municipality adopted six schools that will benefit from this initiative. It is said that this sanitary drive will assist girl children to stay at school for the whole month, even during their period (menstrual cycle).

On Tuesday, AbaQulusi Local Municipality’s female employees visited various schools to donate sanitary pads as a way of ending off Women’s Month on a high note. They took pleasure in ploughing back to needy, disadvantaged and vulnerable young schoolgirls.

The five departments of the municipality adopted six schools that will benefit from this initiative. It is said that this sanitary drive will assist girl children to stay at school for the whole month, even during their period (menstrual cycle). The target is a group of 20 girls in each school, identified by the principals, and the sanitary towels will cover 12 months for each girl. One of the girls at Filidi Secondary School shared that,

“I am one of those girls who grew up in a household where men are the majority, but I do see women succeeding out here, I do know that, in the future, I should not depend on a man for everything; I can be an independent woman. I can also let other women know that one can live without a man and have a proper life.” ALSO READ:Keeping a girl child in school
