ESTCOURT KZN: 20-year-old arrested for beheading young girl

The child was murdered in the KwaSobabili area in Ntabamhlophe

Shock has rippled through Ntabamhlophe after a six-year-old girl was killed and beheaded last week.

Police received a report of the murder at 20:20 on November 25.

The child was murdered in the KwaSobabili area in Ntabamhlophe.

“Upon arrival at the scene, police found the beheaded body of a six-year-old girl lying in a rondavel. The head of the child was later recovered on Friday (November 26) in the river by the police officers from the Search and Rescue Unit,” commented police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala.

A 20-year-old man was thereafter arrested and is expected to appear in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court this week.

Meanwhile Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza has labelled this a ‘barbaric act’ and said that a team of social workers was providing counselling to the girl’s family and school colleagues.
