Volksrust High School hosts RCL camp

With all the learning there was still time to have fun and play educational games where we focused on certain leadership characteristics.

Volksrust High School hosts RCL camp and EC leadership development day.

This took place on January 10, and included a lot of fun, games, and activities.

Although the students were exhausted after a full day of learning and fun, the instructors confirmed they witnessed the future leaders’ passion and development throughout the day.

Marietjie Steyn of Volksrust High School’s marketing department said the learners discovered that they do not all approach challenging problems in the same manner.

However, she added that the camp provided them with direction and tools to help them focus on the solution.

“Our main goal for the camp was to increase self-awareness among our leaders and urge them to prioritize their own personal growth and development, as well as to focus on developing other learners and encouraging strategic thinking,” said Steyn.

“We also wanted to instill in them the importance of communication while also emphasizing the importance of listening to one another.”

Steyn said that Volksrust High School provided guidance and direction.

“Our students learn boldness, excitement, commitment, devotion, and confidence from us. We focus on their abilities from Grades 8 through 12 so that they can further develop their talents. Our goal is for our students to graduate from VHS as strong leaders who make a positive impact on the world.”

Despite all of the learning, there was still time to have some fun and play instructional games that focused on specific leadership traits. The event came to a close with an award presentation.

The leaders of the day were as follows:

  • Aphiwe Mkwanazi from Grade 9
  • Francois de Jager from Grade 10
  • Prince Kusi from Grade 11
  • NT Moolman from Grade 12.

Amazing race winner:

  • Gr 10 group.

Overall winners:

  • Gr 10 group.

“Our young leaders have a shared purpose at VHS. They are better together because they are different.”
