uThukela mayor hands over grocery hampers

The beneficiaries were elderly people, those with disabilities and from child-headed families

uThukela Mayor Inkosi Shabalala visited the Matiwanekop community last Saturday (March 12) to hand over grocery hampers. The mayor was accompanied by Cllr Dlamini and Act of Grace founder Dr Thobile Shelembe.

The purpose of the visit was to lend a helping hand to families directly affected by floods earlier this year.

Identified by the ward councillor, some of the beneficiaries were elderly people, those with disabilities and from child-headed families.

Addressing the community, Mayor Shabalala said he appreciated the kind gesture by Act of Grace through donating grocery hampers.

He went on to say that they understand, as the municipality, that there are quite a number of other communities that have also been affected by disasters.

He said they will work closely with NPOs in order to ensure that distressed families also get visits of this nature.
