Ladysmith heads the log
In the Champions Trophy, where the league winners will compete against the knock-out champions, the remaining league and knock-out final results will determine who will participate.
Ladysmith Angling Club (LAC) leads the NFWAA Devland Impuphu League after five rounds.
“First and foremost, they deploy a complete squad for every expedition; and second, they use their WhatsApp group to share their catches with one another,” said Clifford Robson.
The league log is as follows at the moment: Ladysmith – 68, Itec Freespool – 54, Chelmsford – 52, Docrats – 36, Endumeni – 28, Ace Aqua – 27, and Riverside – 15.

However, the league’s runner-up club will be eligible to compete for the Champions Trophy if one team wins both the league and knock-out crowns.
In terms of point positions, the outcome of League 4 and 5 followed a predictable pattern.
With the remaining four teams doing their best to avoid winning the ‘Wooden Spoon’ award, the top three clubs were Ladysmith, Itec Freespool, and Chelmsford.
The top two clubs in the association produced the four prize winners for the league.
The largest carp was taken by Rodney Ince of Itec Freespool (3.144kg), while a 5.480kg barbel was captured by Sudesh Singh of Ladysmith.
Itec Freespool’s Mervyn Budhoo landed an 11.7kg barbel in zone 2 at Richgate Park, giving his club a comfortable second-place finish in League 5.
Craig Chetty of Ladysmith caught the largest carp.
Betty Bothma of Chelmsford made the day’s ‘unusual catch’ when she reeled in a 1.63kg eel.
