Meet the new Zululand district commander

Khumalo’s aim is for the SAPS and the Zululand community to work together to fight crime.

There’s a new commander in town! Major General Jabu Khumalo has been appointed as the new commander of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Zululand District.
Khumalo, who commenced with his duties on October 1, brings extensive experience to this position, as he has been in the field for more than 30 years. Before he took this position, he was serving as the district commander, Uthukela District.
With his vast experience and leadership in the law enforcement arena, Khumalo’s aim is for the SAPS and the Zululand community to work together to fight crime. He plans to focus on response times and wants the public to trust law enforcement officers. He is ready to guide the district through the current and ongoing challenges, bringing safety and security to the district at large.
Khumalo has worked in the royal protection in kwaNongoma and has served in the Special Task Force (STF) for 20 years, of which the last five years he served as a brigadier commanding the entire STF.
