Prepare your hearts and minds for a wave of inspiration as SSS Mhlungu makes his return to the Vryheid Herald with his highly anticipated motivational column.
Known for his impactful writing on social issues, gender matters, work-related anxieties, and marriage, Mhlungu is ready to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to the pages of the Herald.
As the author of several books addressing various social ills and life challenges, Mhlungu’s words resonate deeply with readers seeking both motivation and understanding in the face of life’s struggles. In his new monthly column, he aims to provide a source of encouragement and wisdom, feeding the minds of his audience while educating them on navigating everyday challenges.

Mhlungu previously wrote a column for the Herald which was put on hold when life demanded too much from him.
However, he was still motivating people on radio stations like Ukhozi FM and SAFM, conducting counselling sessions either one–on–one or in groups. He is still giving motivation at AbaQulusi Community Radio Station every Monday to Friday at 7.30 am on a show called ‘Umjovo Wenqondo’ and does counselling sessions.

He refers to himself as a ‘student of life where no one graduates’ because as he says, ‘we all learn every day’.
‘’No one in life wakes up knowing everything – we learn every second, I love seeing people who live in hope … life can be depressing at times but we should never give up; we need to keep going – we do not throw in the towel but rather keep pushing.’’

Mhlungu says he writes to inspire, motivate and coach lives in the right direction. His passion for being a motivational speaker is from his time with the SAPS where he worked as a Legal Advisor and was tasked to lead an organisation called ‘Men For Change’.
This led to him researching men and their behaviour. Fascinated, he started writing books, the first of which he called ‘From Maleness to Manhood to Marriage’ … from there he has never stopped writing and and motivating.

He is blessed with a wife, Dr ZF Mhlungu and four children, whom he says have been his pillar of strength throughout these years. He is also a preacher at the Methodist Church.
