Earlier, an emergency broadcast was circulated on social media just after 08:00, alerting authorities to be on the lookout for an aircraft that had been reported ‘missing’ in the Ladysmith/Bergville area.

However, a short while later, it was confirmed that the aircraft had been forced to land on a farm in the Normandien District after experiencing engine difficulties.

Mornè Potgieter of Ithemba Security Services confirmed that the pilot and his passenger had been found safe and uninjured.

The exact circumstances that led to the forced landing are yet to be determined.
