Official launch of AbaQulusi Industrial Football League

It is anticipated that the league will start on July 9.

The official launch of the AbaQulusi Industrial Football League took place on Saturday afternoon.
Sponsors, stakeholders, coaches, players and football co-ordinators from different areas attended the event, which was held at the PRG offices.

The launch opened with a prayer and then the executive members were introduced. It is anticipated that the league will start on July 9. The areas of Shoba, Mondlo and Bhekuzulu boast with 16 teams each that are in ‘good standing’. Coronation, the Zwathi area and lastly kwaMnyathi all have 12 teams. There are currently 68 football teams in AbaQulusi Local Municipality.
AbaQulusi Industrial Football League chairperson Mr Dlamini thanked sponsor Mr Thabede for reviving the spirit of football in AbaQulusi. He said that, “Our young men are becoming ‘soft’, so we want to revive talent and build the true character of men through football. Our co-ordinators must work hand-in-hand, as we want to see one of the clubs from AbaQulusi play at provincial or regional level. This can be a bridge to play at SAFA.”

Thabede concluded that, “We want to stop the rate of crime, substance abuse, peer pressure and illnesses, because a healthy body produces a healthy mind and ideas. Our vision is to also include players/teams from all 23 wards in AbaQulusi. We want to help players put bread on the table, because the teams will be rewarded to ignite the spark and love of football. We are not promising the clubs heaven and earth, but we will certainly try our best to assist them when they are ‘short’ or in need whenever they have games to play.”
A meeting will be held soon to discuss plans on how the clubs are going to play.
