Congregants renew faith at Methodist covenant service
Methodist congregants gathered to renew their covenant with God through prayer, reflection and worship.
The Methodist Church held its annual Covenant Renewal and Planting Service at King Bhekuzulu Hall on Sunday, drawing congregants from various circuits and societies.
A time of recommitment and reflection
The service marks a special and sacred moment on the Methodist calendar, where members come together to renew their covenant with God and with one another. It is a time of deep reflection and prayer, as worshippers recommit their lives to God, declaring: “Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.”
Call to active participation and prayer
Reverend Gxamza, who led the service, spoke about the importance of attending church classes and remaining actively involved in Methodist structures. He emphasised that all Methodist organisations should prioritise prayer as the foundation of spiritual growth.
God’s presence in all places and people
Reading different scriptures from the Bible, Gxamza reminded the congregants that God is present everywhere and in all people. “God is not limited to one space; He is everywhere and in everyone.”
Encouragement for unwavering faith
He further encouraged worshippers to approach the year with unwavering faith. “God is the bread of life and everyone needs only a crumb to know Him. As we begin this year, let us have persistent faith. Only you know what you are going through. Forget about people and look to God, because He alone can ease your crisis,” he added.
Service concludes with renewed dedication
The service concluded with congregants dedicating themselves anew to the Lord in prayer and worship.
