Protest action blocks Dundee/Hattingspruit road

Protest action flared up early this morning, blocking the R621 Hattingspruit / Dundee road.

Burning Tyres, rocks and other objects were placed on the road and motorists were advised to seek alternative routes to Dundee.

Unconfirmed reports said the Sunset Rest road was also blocked by protest action.

It is understood that the R621 has been cleared but motorists are urged to proceed with caution.

It is understood that ongoing dissatisfaction with the provision of water and other services in the Hattingspruit area is behind the latest protests.
