Protest action blocks R621 route near Dannhauser
Motorists are advised to avoid this area

Protest action this morning blocked the R621 route near the Shell Garage in Dannhauser.
While it was later reported that the route was open, authorities advised motorists to avoid this area and rather use the R68 road as a detour.
Unconfirmed reports said that the protest was related to the hefty hike in fuel prices that came into affect at midnight: Both grades of increased by 37 cents per litre, while diesel will rise by between 71 cents (50ppm) and 72 cents (500ppm).
Meanwhile, Dannhauser residents told the Courier this morning that the town is again without water. Water outages have been a long going cause of concern for the town’s residents. Attempts to get comment from Amajuba District Municipality have not been successful.
