School children in Sithembile, Glencoe, fall sick after eating goods purchased from a vendor

This is the first reported incident of so-called 'tuckshop' poisons reported in the Endumeni area.

Several children were taken to hospital this morning after falling sick after eating confectionary sold by vendors outside a primary school in Sithembile, Glencoe.

A mother of three children who fell sick said they had purchased sweets from a person selling goods through a fence around the perimeter of theAmakhemfundo Primary School.

It was said by another parent that her children had eaten a chocolate called ‘Longest’.

The children are undergoing medical treatment.

Ward 3 Councillor, SM Pakathi, told the Courier that he was aware of the incident and had dispatched a ward committee member to the school to gather more information.
