DHS’s YCAP team soars to victory in national champs

Youth Citizens Action Programme, YCAP, encourages learners from Primary and Secondary schools to indentify challenges and create actions to sole or lessen the problems within their school and/or communities.

Dundee High School (DHS) is celebrating a momentous achievement, as their YCAP team has brought home the national championship from the recent South African YCAP competition.
Competing against teams from all nine provinces, the students showcased their exceptional talent and passion, ultimately securing the ‘Best Presentation’ award in the senior category.

The team’s journey began with an exhilarating flight from Durban to Sandton, where they were hosted at the luxurious Indaba Hotel.
During their three-day stay, they made new friends, created lasting memories and immersed themselves in the vibrant world of youth development.
The competition was fierce, but DHS’s YCAP team rose to the challenge, delivering a captivating presentation that impressed the judges and secured a well-deserved victory. As a testament to their outstanding performance, each team member was awarded R15,000 vouchers for a public speaking course – a fantastic opportunity to further develop their skills.

This national championship is a testament to the dedication, hard work and talent of the YCAP team. The school is incredibly proud of their achievement and their positive impact on the Dundee High School community. A special thank you to Mrs Sewmangal and Mrs Mchunu for their unwavering support and guidance. You are an inspiration to us all. (Report by Lungile Mbokazi)
