Stolen cattle retrieved in Nondweni area after task team raid

According to SAPS statistics, KZN has the highest number of stock theft cases in the country (more than 14 000),.

Cattle were recovered and a man was arrested following a police raid in the Nondweni area.
Two head of cattle and one calf were found by the Umzinyathi District Task Team.
The animals were stolen last Sunday from Pieter van Zyl’s farm in the Dundee/Helpmekaar area.

Acting on information received that the cattle had been sold in Nondweni, police swooped and recovered one cow.
This then led police to another location, where another cow (which had already calved) was retrieved.
A 42-year-old man was arrested.

“Stock Theft & Endangered Species officers were activated and all exhibits were handed over to them,” said Umzinyathi SAPS spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.
