Tourism Dundee launches drive to bring lots of cheer to Maria Ratschitz Mission

Courier readers can help the deserving children at Marie Ratschitz have a merrier Christmas.

Courier readers are invited to embody the true spirit of Christmas by supporting the Maria Ratschitz Children’s Home & Soup Kitchen Christmas Collection.
Marie Ratschitz is an historic mission near Wasbank, where abandoned children are cared for. There is also a hospice for terminally ill patients who are unable to afford private treatment.

The Dundee Tourism Committee has launched the project to assist the mission and the hospice.
You can support this effort by donating a Christmas gift for the children, aged between six and 17, or by supporting the soup kitchen that feeds the orphaned children and hospice patients.

What can you donate?
Tins of food, dried goods (tea, dry beans, toiletries, vitamin supplements, used and new shoes, vegetable seedlings). Used clothing and toys can also be donated.
The children will also need school readiness boxes, so you can help by donating pencils, pens, crayons, erasers, scissors, and peel-and-stick labels for school books and notebooks.
Donations may be left at the Dundee Tourism office, adjacent to the public library, on weekdays between 09:00 and 15:00 or at the Mpati Pharmacy, next to the Courier, in Beaconsfield Street. All donations must be in by Tuesday, December 10, with delivery to Maria Ratschitz on December 13.
