Health fears rise as blood seen flowing out of manhole

The Dept of Water Affairs has been notified and an inspection will be carried out.

Health fears are rising after blood was seen flowing out of a manhole near the entrance to Sithembile, Glencoe.

The pollution was discovered by a local farmer, Garth Simpson, and reported. The blood appears to be flowing into a drainage channel that runs near where people live.

It is not clear how the blood ended up in the drainage system but those who spoke to the Courier said it must be related to the slaughtering of animals.
