Dundee High School celebrates top achievers and sporting success
Dundee High School celebrates academic excellence, secures big sporting wins, and earns choir festival honours.
Dundee High School (DHS) is celebrating a season of excellence – from academics to the arts and sport.
The school recognised its top 10 academic achievers of Term 2 across all grades. Learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 were applauded for their dedication and hard work.
In sport, the DHS cricket teams produced standout results against Sarel Cilliers. The U/15s won by 25 runs, with Yishay Laloo impressing both with the bat (48 runs) and ball, supported by Hamza Docrat and Eugene Corbit.
The first team claimed a dominant 90-run victory. After a shaky start, strong partnerships – including a 78-run stand between Kiandri Bierbaum and Ryno Labuschagne – lifted DHS to 189. The bowlers then shone, with Labuschagne (2/13), Stuart Talanda (2/18) and Tayrees du Preez (2/13) skittling the opposition for 99. Labuschagne was named Man of the Match for his all-round display.
The choir continued the winning streak at the first competitive choir festival hosted by Vryheid High School. DHS clinched the secular contemporary, devotional and African tradition categories, and was crowned overall best choir with an impressive 80% score.
In tennis, DHS beat NHS 11–1 in sets (71–26 in games) and drew 5–5 with Pionier, winning on games 43–41.
Meanwhile, the Grade 12 Consumer Studies learners showcased their culinary talent during practical exams. From creative mains to decadent desserts, the dishes displayed skill, flair and passion, leaving teachers and adjudicators impressed.
DHS has once again proved its commitment to nurturing well-rounded learners, excelling both inside and outside the classroom.
