Soccer results
Dundee High School’s soccer teams competed against Ladysmith High last weekend.

Cricket triumph
On Saturday, August 23, DHS’s first cricket team played against St Dominic’s. Despite windy conditions, the bowlers adapted well and dismissed St Dominic’s for 87 all out.
Highlights included:

Kiandri Bierbaum claiming the first breakthrough with a great catch by Handré Smit.

Stuart Talanda and Ryno Labuschagne taking two wickets each, with Ryno conceding just one run in two overs.

Handré Smit finishing off the tail with three quick wickets.
An impressive 83-run opening stand saw DHS race to victory in only six overs, winning by nine wickets.

Top scorers: Dillan Guelpa (50 from 21 balls) and Stuart Talanda (31 from 15).

Girls’ cricket thriller
The DHS girls’ team faced league champions Ferrum High School in a tightly contested match.
Batting first, DHS posted 154/4, with standout contributions from:

In the field, DHS fought hard, with Mia and Kiandri taking early wickets, Mandie Conradie claiming two, and a sharp runout from Kiandri. Mia also thrilled spectators with a big six.
Despite their efforts, DHS narrowly lost by one run as Ferrum reached 155/5 off the final ball.
Tennis champions
DHS proudly announced victory in the tennis league, with outstanding teamwork and determination securing the title.

Science Expo success
On 19 August, seven Dundee High learners competed in the Regional Science Fair in Newcastle.

Silver award: Soovari Sookraj for a project on the effect of blue light on teenage sleep patterns.

Bronze awards: Ameera Sadeck, Elihle Shabalala, Nthabiseng Masuku, Aphiwe Masuku, Lwandle Phiri and Amahle Mabilisa.
The school now awaits results for possible qualification to the International Science Fair.
Math Olympiad pride
Eight learners advanced to the second round of the Math Olympiad:
Jared Pretorius, Nehal Ramgolam, Mandie Conradie, Akhona Dlamini, Alexi Stander, Kaleb Sumoro, Iman Joosub and Mia van der Merwe.
