KHULA Education supports 6,500 learners in memory of David Rattray

KHULA Education honours David Rattray’s legacy by supporting 6,500 learners across 22 rural schools every year.

On International Day of Charity, Fugitives’ Drift reflected on the work of the David Rattray Foundation, which operates locally as KHULA Education.

Founded in 2007 in memory of historian and storyteller David Rattray, the Foundation has become a cornerstone of education in the community.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do here at Fugitives’ Drift,” the organisation said in a statement. “From the stories of the past to the children of those stories who walk the same roads today, our work is bound to this land and its people.”

Each year, KHULA Education supports more than 6,500 children and young people across 22 schools in the communities surrounding the famous battlefields. The Foundation says this is a “living legacy,” bringing hope, opportunity and possibility to rural learners.
