Dundee shooters earn national and international nonours at Worldshoot 2025

Three Dundee marksmen showcased world-class skill at the IPSC Worldshoot 2025, bringing home national recognition and medals.

Three Dundee sports shooters have made their town proud after competing in the prestigious 20th IPSC Worldshoot 2025 – the world’s largest practical shooting competition – held last week in Stilfontein.

Among them was teenage sharpshooter Frederich C. Eicker, whose outstanding achievements this year have earned him national recognition from the South African Practical Shooting Association (SAPSA).

Eicker’s 2025 highlights include:

  • April – Eastern Province Nationals Level III: First Overall Super Junior in the Production Optics Division.

  • June – Mpumalanga Nationals Level III: Third Overall in the Junior Production Optics Division.

  • September – RSA Handgun World Championships, Stilfontein: Tenth Overall Junior in the Production Optics Division.

At SAPSA’s annual awards, Eicker was presented with a silver medal for the year in the Junior Production Optics Division — a remarkable achievement that reflects his precision, consistency and dedication.

Currently ranked number one junior in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, Eicker also represents the NKZN Production Optics Team. He and his father, Derich Eicker, earned a bronze medal in the Family Team category at the SAPSA awards.

“Shooting requires great discipline and concentration, as efficiency of movement and accuracy all contribute to a higher scoring factor,” said Frederich.

At championships, competitors are presented with a challenging ‘stage’ and must quickly strategise how to engage targets — balancing accuracy, positioning, and time pressure.

Joining Frederich and Derich at the 20th IPSC Worldshoot was fellow Dundee marksman Hendrik Coetzee, who proudly represented South Africa at the elite international event.

Their participation and success further cement Dundee’s reputation as a stronghold for competitive shooting talent.
