Sarel Cilliers athletes excel while excitement grows for two-day sports festival

Sarel Cilliers learners win relay medals as health officials address teenagers on pregnancy and drug awareness.

Sarel Cilliers High School athletes delivered strong performances at the annual relay event hosted by Vryheid High School. The team secured bronze in the Under 16 and Under 17 girls’ relays, while the Under 19 girls claimed gold. The school finished fourth overall.

Athletes also competed in the Endumeni trials held at Dundee High School.

Departments engage learners

Representatives from the Department of Health and the Department of Social Development addressed Grade 8 and 9 learners on teenage pregnancy and drug awareness. The interactive sessions were well received.

The angling team travelled to Klipfontein Dam for their first outing of the year, with Zidane Singh named angler of the day.

In rugby, Sarel Cilliers defeated Lincoln Heights 65–0 in an Under 15 fixture.

Orange Grove Sports Festival

The annual bumper Orange Grove Sports Festival will be held at the school this month, featuring sport, stalls and family entertainment. Make sure you spend Friday (into the night) and Saturday (also into the night) at the Sarel Cilliers and enjoy top rugby, hockey, netball, and chess with schools from around the country competing.
