Duduza Care Centre Hospice invites community to annual fun run

Duduza Care Centre Hospice invites runners and families to support its annual fun run and a worthy community cause.

Duduza Care Centre Hospice, a non-profit organisation based at Maria Ratschitz Mission in Wasbank, will host its Annual Fun Run on Saturday, July 11.

The event aims to bring the community together in support of hospice and palliative care services while promoting health, wellness and social cohesion. Local running clubs, schools, businesses, families and individual runners are encouraged to take part.

Race categories and prizes

Participants can choose from three race distances:
• 21km
• 10km
• 5km

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 21km and 10km races.

For the 21km race:
• First place: R2 000
• Second place: R1 500
• Third place: R1 000

For the 10km race:
• First place: R1 500
• Second place: R1 000
• Third place: R750

The 5km event is open to runners and walkers of all ages who want to enjoy the day while supporting a good cause.

Entry fees are R50 for the 5km, R100 for the 10km and R150 for the 21km.

Supporting a worthy cause

Organisers have assured participants that the event will be safe and well managed. The Traffic Department, the South African Police Service and on-site ambulance services will assist throughout the event.

Community members and local businesses are also invited to set up stalls at the mission grounds for R100 per stall.

Funds raised will help Duduza Care Centre Hospice continue providing compassionate care, dignity and comfort to patients and their families.
