Memorial parade will honour Delville Wood heroes

The public is invited to honour South African soldiers at the 110th Delville Wood Memorial Parade in Dundee.

The Endumeni Isandlwana Shellhole is inviting the public to join members in commemorating the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Delville Wood during a special memorial parade in Dundee.

The event will take place on Sunday, July 19, at the Endumeni Isandlwana Shellhole. Guests are asked to arrive at 10:30 for the official proceedings, which will begin at 11:00.

Honouring South Africa’s heroes

The ceremony will pay tribute to the South African soldiers who fought at the Battle of Delville Wood during the First World War. The battle remains one of the most significant chapters in South Africa’s military history, with the country’s troops earning international recognition for their bravery, determination and sacrifice.

A highlight of this year’s commemoration will be the dedication of the MOTH Memorial Wall, creating a lasting tribute to those who served.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and are encouraged to take part in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Anyone wishing to lay a wreath is asked to RSVP in advance.

Bring and braai after the service

Following the formal ceremony, attendees are invited to enjoy a bring-and-braai at the Shellhole.

Guests should bring their own meat, while organisers will provide the fires, salads, bread rolls and pudding. Refreshments will also be available.

Those wishing to attend or lay a wreath can RSVP by emailing pammcfadden1@gmail.com.
