Police probe alleged child trafficking attempt in Ladysmith
When the little girl started to cry, the 3 women quickly left the shop

Ladysmith police have been made aware of a suspicious incident, possibly linked to child trafficking, that took place at a local shopping centre on Sunday morning (January 12).
It is reported that a 64-year-old grandmother was in a store with her three-year-old granddaughter when she was approached by three unknown women. All of them were well dressed and athletic in build.
One of the three asked if she could carry the toddler, but prior to getting permission, she tried to take hold of the child. The girl refused, tightening her grip on her gran.

The woman tried a second time to take hold of the little girl, this time using much more force and hurting the child, causing her to start crying.
When the woman saw she had failed in her attempts and that attention was being focused on them, all three quickly left the store.
Information on hand suggests that the three women are foreign nationals.
Police are probing the incident. They advise the community to be extra vigilant with children at places like shopping centres, where a person can easily be distracted.
