Police raids lead to four arrests and major recovery

A total of four suspects, including foreign nationals, were arrested and stolen goods valued at hundreds of thousands of Rands recovered following a robbery last month in Dannhauser.
Imraan Ghafoor of Newcastle Crime Fighters Task Team (Newcastle CCPA) said in the first sting operation, members of SAPS Madadeni Tracing Team, CCPA Amajuba District Crime Fighters Task Team and Ithemba Security, combined in sting operation in Madadeni following a robbery last month in Dannhauser.
A large number of cellphones and electronic devices were stolen in the robbery. Following up on intelligence received, the team swooped on Madadeni on July 17 where a foreign national was arrested.
This led the team to the suspect’s hideout where numerous stolen items were recovered.
Members proceeded to a second target where more stolen exhibits were recovered.
Following up on intelligence received another four men were apprehended on July 19 by members of the SAPS Newcastle K9, SAPS KZN CI, Ithemba Security and CCPA Amajuba District Crime Fighters Task Team.
Members first arrested a foreign national before swooping on a business in Voortrekker Street where two more foreign nationals were taken into custody.
Stolen property worth about R220 000 was seized and recovered.
A vehicle confirmed to have been stolen in 2022, which was used in transporting the stolen property was also seized.
