Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, Lizzy Arumugam, said in the first incident on October 11, the body of a 60-year-old man was discovered in Madadeni at Section 4’s Public Road.
He had suffered several gunshot wounds. No arrests have been made and anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to come forward.
The second murder was reported on the afternoon of October 12 at Nyandeni Stand in Osizweni.
“Police arrived at the scene and discovered the body of a 45-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest and robbed of his belongings,” said Arumugam.
Two suspects were arrested shortly afterwards and have since appeared in court on charges of murder.
