Dannhauser business burglary: two arrested, goods worth R600K recovered

Two men were arrested and over 260 cellphones and other goods recovered following a burglary on Christmas night at the Pep Stores in Dannhauser.
Imraan Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighter’s Task Team (CCPA) said operational members comprising SAPS Newcastle Crime Prevention (C Shift), Zultrack and Ithemba Security received intelligence regarding a white VW Polo allegedly involved in the theft and swooped on a house in Ingagane where the sought after vehicle was discovered.
Operational members entered the property, where several suspects were found hiding.
Three suspects managed to flee the scene, while two men were arrested.
Recovered exhibits included 262 brand-new sealed cellphones, carry bags, grinding discs, housebreaking implements and the VW Polo used by the burglars.
The total value of the recovered items is estimated at approximately R600 000.
“Well done to all involved,” Ghafoor concluded.
