No water in most parts of town due to industrial action
The water shortage is believed to be because of industrial action

Most parts of town woke up to no water this morning (November 11).
Rumours doing the rounds on social media put the blame on the security guards that were responsible for last weekend’s water cut, but this is not the case.
It is believed at this stage that municipal employees actually working for uThukela are withholding services. The workers are at work, but are thought to be on a go-slow.
The industrial action is district-wide.

A spokesperson for the security guards commented that, “We are still waiting for uThukela to pay our company, as it was promised that that they would pay us yesterday (November 10) or today. We have given them time to pay us and we are not responsible for this current water shortage.”
“We will only start to do something maybe on Monday if we are not paid by then,” he warned.
A spokesman for the Al-Imdaad Foundation has confirmed that a water tanker is on its way to Ladysmith and will be distributing water as soon as it arrives.
uThukela water tankers have been seen filling up. However, they appear to be taking their time. The normal frenetic pace one would expect at the filling area is not happening.
This is a developing story and we will update you as soon as new information becomes available…
