One person sadly lost their life in a crash that took place today (October 11) at Van Reenen.

According to officials at the scene, it is alleged that the driver of a vehicle lost control and veered into an embankment. The vehicle then caught fire. 

Alfred Duma firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the blaze.

Aside from the one fatality, it has been reported that a minor was injured and another person is in critical condition. Both were rushed to hospital by emergency personnel. 

The left lane (Durban-bound) is currently obstructed and traffic is moving slowly past the scene.

People travelling in this direction are advised to delay their journey.
