SAPS march in support of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence

Those from the Crisis Centre, Life Line, the Department of Social Development, the Department of Community and Safety, and district and station CPF members all supported the initiative.

Amajuba District Station members took to the streets on December 6 to take part in a peaceful walk from the Amajuba District office to the Newcastle Taxi Rank.

Lizzy Arumugam, Newcastle SAPS corporate communications officer, said the walk marked the beginning of the 16 day of activism against gender-based violence campaign. Walkers displayed placards that called for no violence against women and children.

Those from the Crisis Centre, Life Line, the Department of Social Development, the Department of Community and Safety, and district and station CPF members all supported the initiative.

Information pamphlets were also distributed to the community.

“The day was a success, with a message of zero tolerance for GBV relayed.”
