Mayor Sifiso Mkhwanazi’s two bodyguards were involved in a collision this morning at Driefontein, between Hlobane and Vryheid. The two bodyguards were on their way to fetch the mayor when the municipal vehicle was hit on the side by another vehicle.

“We are grateful that all involved in the accident survived,” said Mayor Mkhwanazi.

“One of the bodyguards is currently in hospital in a stable condition, while Shelembe escaped unscathed,” he added.

Mayor Mkhwanazi urges motorists to exercise caution on the road, especially in wet conditions.
