Municipality hands over title deeds to homeowners
The mayor urged the recipients to keep their title deeds in a safe place, as they are 'sensitive' documents.

It was a joyous occasion for residents of Emabhalonini Ward 23 yesterday (March 18) when Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality handed over title deeds in the Mabhalonini/Mimosadale housing project.
A total of 977 title deeds were officially handed over to homeowners. These residents are now the legal owners of their houses in this ward.
In his speech, Mayor Mduduzi Myeza explained the importance of title deeds to homeowners, emphasising that they now have secure ownership of their land. “Today, you will have a treasured possession that will remain with your family even after you’re gone, ensuring that no one will take your children out of their homes,” Myeza said.
The mayor also warned against using title deeds as collateral for loans, as this could put families in trouble.

Cllr Musa Nkala, chairperson of the Planning & Development portfolio, commended the current administration for its hard work. He noted that the municipality had previously operated with an unfunded budget, but had since turned things around.
“Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality ranked second in KZN for building houses in 2023/2024, including those whose title deeds were handed over,” Nkala said.
Title deed recipients expressed their gratitude to the municipality for ensuring their legal ownership. Additionally, about 50 driver’s licences were issued to beneficiaries in the mayoral driver’s licence programme.
The mayor encouraged the youth to seize available opportunities to combat unemployment. He also handed over full school uniforms to learners from disadvantaged families and laptops to Ujikelele High School learners.
