Ms Ndima’s contributions commended at memorial service
The funeral will be held in Durnacol on Sunday, April 6.
The memorial service of the late Ms WB Ndima was held yesterday (April 2) in the Drakensberg Secondary School Hall. Ndima, who was the acting chief educational specialist in the Estcourt CMC, was shot and killed on Friday morning (March 28) in Wembezi as she was leaving for work.
At the memorial service, Ndima was described by various speakers as someone who was very kind, assertive, a team player and very brave.
The service was attended by the Ndima family, uThukela Deputy Mayor Mbuzeleni Mkhize, Inkosi Sibonelo Mkhize of Hlathikhulu (who also chairs the Ingonyama Trust Board Finance Committee), representatives from the Department of Education and teachers’ unions, educators from different schools, and community members.
Ndima was commended by Inkosi Mkhize for her ability to solve problems in Estcourt schools, being brave as a woman alone among men, and not scared to call someone to order.
Deputy Mayor Mkhize conveyed his condolences to the family, saying that the whole of Estcourt has lost a great woman. In his remarks, Mkhize said the Department of Education needs prayer after so many incidents in which departmental workers who are trusted by the people are brutally killed. He expressed his concern over these incidents where ‘people are killed like goats’, saying these incidents are perpetrated mostly by men.
