Winter uniforms donated to Qinisa Primary School
This is a joint venture between the Andile Mchunu Foundation and Bana Ba BaPhorofitha (BBB).
Qinisa Primary School warmly welcomed a kind gesture by the Andile Mchunu Foundation and Bana Ba BaPhorofitha (BBB) who, together, donated 40 jerseys and beanies to the learners.
The handover took place on Tuesday (June 17) at the school.
This initiative comes as a result of the commitment by Ward 4 Cllr Londathina Hlomuka to help this neglected school keep its doors open. Hlomuka has been hands-on in his bid to provide assistance to the institution.
Qinisa Primary was once on the brink of being closed by the department due to the low number of learners.

According to Hlomuka, the collaborative efforts between stakeholders – including school principal Mr Mchunu, the ward councillor and non-profit organisations – have yielded the desired results. This is evidenced by the increased enrollment of children this year. “I plead with you as parents to bring back your kids to the local school. This is for your own good as the community of Qinisa, and we are here to assist where we can,” said Hlomuka.
Handing over the donation, Andile Mchunu raised concerns about the state of the school and urged the community to play their role in saving this school. “We are here to help, but we need everyone to come on board and play their role. Together, we can make a difference. We will be coming back to cut the grass and we would appreciate it if community members would also be a part of the programme,” said Mchunu.
The school principal welcomed the donations. He also reassured the parents and other stakeholders that they are doing everything possible to revive the school, and they are indeed on the right track. “I can assure you that despite the challenges we are facing, we are giving your children the best,” said the principal.
