Expect dry taps due to power failure at water treatment works

uThukela has promised that they will keep the community updated on the situation.

Areas that receive water from the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant (Embizeni) should expect water shortages due to a power failure.

The affected areas include Ezakheni, Acaciavale and Rose Park.

According to a statement issued by uThukela District Municipality:

“This notice serves to inform the community of Alfred Duma Local Municipality that we are currently experiencing a power outage at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works (WTW). This is attributed to a fuse that has burnt out, rendering the plant non-operational.

“Eskom has been alerted and we are awaiting their prompt response. All areas that are supplied by the plant will therefore be affected by water interruptions. We will update the community accordingly as soon as we receive the latest information. Apologies for the inconvenience.”
