Municipality leads successful clean-up campaign in Ward 23
The municipality has encouraged residents to take ownership of their spaces and to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving environmental health.
On Thursday (August 21), Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality held a successful clean-up campaign in the Emabhalonini area, Ward 23, led by Cllr N Mvelase.
Spearheaded by the Waste Management Section under the Department of Community Services, this initiative formed part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to eradicate illegal dumping.
The campaign, known as Operation MBO, brought together several key stakeholders, including the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs; Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, uThukela District Municipality’s Environmental Health Services, Fibre Circle, and MKG Solutions (a recycling service provider).

The programme focused on cleaning up the R103 and surrounding areas that are heavily affected by illegal dumping, while also engaging residents in a community-based awareness drive.
The awareness sessions highlighted the importance of proper waste management, recycling and collective responsibility in safeguarding the environment.
