Plaas Drag 2025 raises funds for CANSA in Vryheid

Vryheid’s Plaas Drag 2025 delivers high-speed action and raises funds for CANSA.

A farm owned by Michael van der Linde just outside town came alive on Saturday as main sponsor and host Auto Boutique SA 4×4 Fitment & Leisure presented the Plaas Drag 2025, drawing crowds for a day of high-speed action in aid of CANSA.

Fun start to a day of racing

The day kicked off in a fun and unexpected way, with two local grocery delivery vehicles opening the track before the main races began. Cars, quad bikes, tractors and motorbikes all took to the track, providing spectators with an action-packed day.

Local flavour and family fun

Beyond the racing, visitors were treated to a wide selection of food and drinks, while local businesses displayed their goods, adding to the lively atmosphere. Families and racing fans mingled and enjoyed both the entertainment and the chance to support a good cause.

Winners impress the crowd

The overall win of the day went to Rockspider 4×4 and US Cruizers, who impressed the spectators with their speed and skill on the track. Organiser Jacques Schutte and his team thanked the sponsors and stallholders who helped create a festive atmosphere with their products.

Community rallies behind CANSA

More than R50,000 was raised for CANSA—an especially meaningful achievement in November, which is also Movember for men’s health awareness. “We would’ve liked to give more to CANSA, but unfortunately an event like this is expensive to host. I would like to thank my team who organised everything—me and my wife, my son Christiaan, RG and René, and Zander van Rooyen,” said Schutte.

Growing success year after year

The organisers hosted a 4×4 day last year, and this year’s Plaas Drag 2025 built on that success, with even more participation and community involvement.
Plaas Drag 2025 highlighted the community spirit of Vryheid, showing that a day of fun on the farm can also make a real difference.
