Egerton community struggles as water outages continue
There has been no update from uThukela as to when the water supply will be restored.
Residents in the Egerton area have been without water for several days. This morning (November 19), Ward 20 Councillor Abbas Warasally, together with the RASP team, visited Egerton Primary School to fill its JoJo tank. Warasally said the school would have been forced to close if water was not supplied, and they were determined to prevent that from happening. He also expressed his gratitude to Mr Sewpersadh for sending tankers and a team to help fill the school’s JoJo tank.
The councillor added that he has attempted to contact the general manager at uThukela regarding the ongoing water outages affecting the Embizeni Water Works and Ladysmith Water Works, but has not received any feedback. He said he will continue trying to obtain an update so he can inform the public when the water supply is expected to be restored.

Community members from Hillside, Rose Park, Chisty Place and Acaciavale have also reported that they currently have no water, and say there has been no communication from uThukela regarding the outages.
