Newcastle athlete sets personal best in New Zealand race

Mohammed Mobla achieves milestone time in demanding Tauranga event.

Newcastle athlete Mohammed Mobla achieved a new personal best during a challenging race in Tauranga, New Zealand.

Mobla completed a demanding 2km swim in 40 minutes and 27 seconds, followed by a 21km run in one hour, 43 minutes and 16 seconds.

Currently competing under the Pietermaritzburg Save Orion Running Club, Mobla credited his teammates Ismail Kajee, Mohsin Khan, Muhammed Asvat and Muhammed Chothia for their continued support and motivation.

“This is my best time in a half-marathon and my first time taking part in a duathlon, so I am very proud of myself,” Mobla said.
