Vryheid rugby teams battle hard despite defeats

Vryheid Rugby Club shows determination in tough matches against Hluhluwe Rugby Club.

Last Saturday, Vryheid Rugby Club travelled to Pongola to face Hluhluwe Rugby Club in what turned out to be a tough and physical day of rugby. The boys knew they were in for a hard battle and showed great determination throughout both matches.

Second team under early pressure

Second Team Match – Vryheid 2 vs Hluhluwe 2
The first game kicked off with intense pressure from Hluhluwe, who kept Vryheid pinned in their own half for more than eight minutes. Despite the early pressure, the Vryheid boys refused to back down and defended bravely.

At halftime, Hluhluwe led 12–7, but Vryheid came out fighting in the second half and pushed hard to turn the game around. In the end, Hluhluwe managed to hold on and proved to be the stronger side on the day.

First team faces intense contest

The main game proved to be one of the toughest encounters of the season so far. From the first whistle, both teams delivered massive hits and high-intensity rugby. Vryheid showed great courage and never backed down against a strong Hluhluwe side.

Hluhluwe dominated the first half and went into the break leading 17–0. During halftime, the coach delivered a motivating speech that fired up the Vryheid squad for the second half.

The second half saw powerful runs and hard tackles from both teams. Hluhluwe played with the intent to prove a point against Vryheid , but Vryheid responded with heart and determination. The Vryheid boys fought back strongly, scoring three tries and two conversions before the final whistle.

Despite the comeback effort, Hluhluwe managed to maintain control of the match.
