Marching in Durban
The march brought together community members, civic organisations and political parties, all united in their distinctive regalia and colours. Its primary aim was to pressure government to take stronger action in addressing challenges related to undocumented foreign nationals in the country, including calls for improved enforcement and regulatory measures.
Mayor Myeza’s participation underscored the municipality’s ongoing commitment to addressing community concerns. The demonstration highlighted growing public demand for decisive government intervention on immigration-related issues, with participants advocating for stricter compliance and accountability.
Ongoing local efforts in Estcourt
It is noteworthy that Mayor Myeza has previously worked in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs, SAPS and other stakeholders to conduct inspections in Estcourt. These operations focused on identifying non-compliance, including expired food products, regulatory violations and undocumented individuals.
In addition, the mayor has hosted several community engagement meetings, particularly following numerous incidents allegedly involving undocumented foreign nationals in Estcourt. These efforts reflect a broader initiative to respond to community concerns while promoting law enforcement and public safety.
