Dundee Hospital urges patients to use clinics before visiting
Patients seeking medical attention are urged to follow the correct procedue to ease pressure on the system.
Dundee Hospital has reminded residents to first seek medical care at their nearest clinic before going to the hospital, in a bid to improve service delivery.
Referral system aims to ease pressure
Hospital spokesperson RM Ngcobo said patients should obtain a referral letter from their local clinic before visiting the hospital.
“We urge community members to first visit their nearest clinic. If further care is needed, the clinic will provide a referral letter to the hospital,” he said.
Ngcobo explained that the system is aimed at improving the quality of care and reducing pressure on hospital services.
“To improve the quality of services at the hospital, patients are requested to bring a referral letter each time they visit, unless they have been asked by a doctor to return on a specific date,” he said.
‘Following the correct procedure will smooth the process’
He added that patients arriving without a referral letter may still be assisted, but could face delays.
“If you do not have a referral letter, you may be screened by a nurse in the outpatient department and then referred to the Gateway Clinic within the hospital premises,” said Ngcobo.
Residents are encouraged to follow the correct referral process to ensure smoother and more efficient healthcare services.
