Breakwaters bounce back to claim league and challenge titles
The club restored its pride with a series of impressive performances.
After a disappointing previous campaign, Breakwaters Angling Club produced a remarkable turnaround season, bouncing back strongly following a successful rebuilding phase that re-ignited the squad’s hunger, unity and determination.
Competing under the banner of the Angling Professional League, the club restored its proud reputation with a series of impressive performances.

Adapting to new waters
Fishing at Zaaihoek Dam presented a fresh challenge, particularly after years on the familiar waters of Chelmsford Dam, where the club first established itself in 1991.
Despite the unfamiliar conditions, members rose to the occasion with resilience and skill.
The season also included a memorable overnight social outing to the Vaal River at Fisherman’s Hangout, fully sponsored by the club. The trip proved invaluable for team bonding and strengthening the camaraderie that defines Breakwaters.
Title-winning campaign
On the competitive front, Breakwaters delivered a title-winning season in the Mohamed Midas League. The team secured three victories from five events and finished runners-up twice, demonstrating consistency and determination to clinch the league crown.
The AA Coaches Knockout Competition proved more challenging, with Breakwaters eliminated in the semi-finals by rivals Stillwaters Angling Club, who went on to win the title.
However, the team responded in champion fashion in the AA Coaches Grand Challenge. In a highly anticipated rematch against Stillwaters, Breakwaters produced a dominant display to secure the championship.
Winning two major titles in one season marked a significant achievement following the setbacks of the previous year.
