Clothing donation drive revives Ubuntu spirit in Vryheid

Zakhele Foundation's clothing drive delivers hope to vulnerable families while encouraging more community donations.

Zakhele Xulu of the Zakhele Foundation, in partnership with Nkwambazi Primary School, recently launched a Clothing Donation Drive, appealing to members of the public to donate clothing for people in need.

The project was successfully implemented, with members of the public donating a variety of clothing items. Donations were dropped off at CMD Vryheid under the leadership of Mr S. Ndaba, where they were received by Nkosingiphile Xulu.

Donations reach local beneficiaries

Once the collection process was completed, the donated clothing was delivered to Inkululeko Children’s Home. The home’s management expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the initiative. On the same day, another batch of clothing was delivered to SAVF Vryheid.

Project revives the spirit of Ubuntu

Zakhele Xulu said the project had revived the spirit of Ubuntu.

“This project revived the spirit of Ubuntu, as we received clothing donations from Durban, Louwsburg, Vryheid, Shoba and surrounding areas. It also showed that there are citizens who care for others regardless of whether they are related. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project, as it has had a positive impact on the wellbeing of humanity.”

Appeal for continued community support

Xulu added that this was only the first phase of the Clothing Donation Drive and appealed for more clothing donations.

“The main aim is to empower, uplift and assist others through the spirit of Ubuntu, as it promotes unity, encourages compassion and strengthens nation-building.”

Anyone interested in donating clothing items can drop them off at CMD Vryheid, 180 Utrecht Street, with Nkosingiphile Xulu, or contact Zakhele Xulu on 063 147 5559 or email zakhelefoundation@gmail.com.
