Successful weekend on the sports field for VHS

Vryheid High School (VHS) had a successful weekend on the sports field, with the teams taking part in various tournaments. The U/15 rugby team participated in the Ferrum 7s tournament, the soccer girls’ team played their final in the soccer league, and our boys’ and girls’ hockey teams participated in the Ferrum tournament.
The rugby scores were as follows: U/15 won 13-14 against PHS, won 33-7 against Ferrum, drew 14-14 against SCH, 19-17 against SCH, and 22-14 against PHS. The U/15s were named the U/15 tournament champions. VHS wishes to pass special thanks to the coaches of this team, Mr Scholtz and Mr Joubert, for their unending dedication to rugby and the development of the players.
The school also wishes to congratulate the boys who represented the NKZN 7s rugby team at the tournament! These boys include: C Newberry, E Mpanza and W Shangase. Your hard work, determination and team spirit have made us all proud. Keep pushing forward, champions!
The soccer girls won the soccer league. They played their final game and won 3-0 against Dundee High School. It has been a successful season for them. The school extends deep gratitude to all the soccer coaches who invested their time into the sport.
The hockey scores were as follows: 1-1 vs Ferrum, 3-1 vs NHS, 2-1 vs Ferrum, 1-1 vs Pionier. The team went through to the semi-final and drew 0-0 against Ferrum. In the penalty shoot-out, they lost 2-3. Playing for position ¾, they lost 2-1 against Pionier.
The boys’ hockey team won 3-0 against Ferrum and lost 0-3 against Newcastle. In the semi-final, they drew 1-1 against Ferrum and lost 2-3 in the penalty shoot-out. Playing for 3/4, they drew 1-1 vs NHS.
The team ultimately obtained fourth position due to final goal difference. Well done!
