Learners gain valuable experience at Vryheid Landbou

Career guidance, sporting success and awareness programmes make for a productive week at Vryheid Landbou.

Vryheid Landbou learners enjoyed a busy and meaningful week filled with career guidance, sporting achievements, and important awareness programmes.

The matric learners attended an informative career expo in Vryheid, where they explored different career paths, universities, colleges, and bursary opportunities.

Representatives from various institutions shared valuable information and guided learners on suitable career and study options. Many learners left the expo feeling inspired and more confident about their futures.

Strong performances on the sports field

Our rugby, hockey, and netball teams also travelled to compete against Eshowe High and Richards Bay High.

Rugby teams impress

The rugby teams delivered excellent performances, with the U15 team winning 36–12 against Eshowe, the U16 team securing an impressive 43–15 victory, and the first team playing to a thrilling 27–27 draw.

Hockey team battles hard

The first hockey team fought hard but narrowly lost 1–0 against Eshowe.

Netball teams secure important victories

Our netball teams also performed well, with victories recorded by the U14, U15 and second team, while the first team earned a win against Richards Bay before losing to Eshowe.

Learners tackle important social issues

On 19 May, learners were addressed by members of the South African Police Service and social workers on important issues affecting many high schools, including gender-based violence, human and children’s rights, bullying, and rape awareness.

The programme was excellently led by head boy Siyathokoza Mavimbela and head girl Thabile Khanyile, who served as outstanding MCs.

Learners also shared their thoughts with confidence and maturity, while songs used as ice-breakers helped create an engaging and welcoming atmosphere.

Appreciation for a successful week

We sincerely thank the SAPS, social workers, educators, coaches, and learners for contributing to a successful and inspiring week at Vryheid Landbou.
